The area
Being one of the oldest parts of Paris, the 2nd arrondissement, along with the 9th district, is the night life of the centre of Paris, with its many theatres and restaurants along the Boulevard des Italiens, and the Boulevards Montmartre, Poissonière et Bonne Nouvelle.
The apartment is named after the "The Grevin Wax Museum".
This museum was founded in 1882 on the model of Madame Tussauds in London.
The museum brings back in front of you great people and events of history in realistic wax copies.
The Grevin Wax Museum features a mirage room and a magic trick theater.
Children will like the museum and be excited by its deforming mirrors.
"Galerie Vivienne", which bares the same name as the street of the apartment, is one of the most attractive covered passages of Paris.
The gallery was a popular short cut enabling people to avoid the crowds of the rue Vivienne and rue Petits-Champs.
Further down rue Vivienne, you have La Bourse (Stock Exchange).
The French Stock Exchange was created at the beginning of the 19th century by Napoléon.
In 1826 it moved to its present site in the Brongniart Palace.
A public gallery enables visitors to see the trading in progress.
With the arrival of numerous banks between the Boulevard des Italiens and the Rue de Rivoli, the quarter has become the financial centre of Paris.
But not to forget, from the apartment it's only a 5mn walking distance to Opéra Garnier and the Department Stores Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, 5mn to the Palais Royal, 10mn to Jardin the Tuileries and 10mn to the Louvre Museum.
